Cynthia Walker, Medtronic Vice President of Global Education in the Cardiac Rhythm/Heart Failure Division, traveled to New Orleans and presented Chancellor Larry Hollier, MD with a certificate of achievement recognizing 10 years of excellence in training physicians to safely implant and manage pacemakers.

One of Medtronic's most long-standing and successful partnerships, the Medtronic Procedural Training: LSUHSC Patient Safety Implant Training Program has educated more than 100 physicians, who have adopted the skills we teach to benefit patients in communities across the country.

The three-day program combines instruction, simulation, observation, and in vivo training specifically designed to develop pacemaker implantation skills. The program focuses on the safe and effective use of Medtronic products to include surgical considerations for atrial and ventricular lead access and placement, pocket formation, and wound closure. The course also includes discussions on pacing indications and best practices, and a review of patient cases, addressing the theoretical and practical aspects of device therapies and post-implant patient management.
